Why I Finally Tried Therapy

Plus, my spring faves!

In partnership with

Hello friends-

This week, we’re talking about therapy and our first-ever family cruise…

Plus, my book turned three last week and I have a fun surprise for you if you keep reading!

First, an update on our family cruise because I had shared with you my hesitation about going on one to begin with – I don’t like small spaces (claustrophobic), I’m scared of heights (acrophobic) and the older I’ve gotten (I’m now 50), I get motion sick. Soooo, how is it going, so far?

I’m happy to report that with the help of some motion sickness patches (thank you for the recommendation!), we’re having a great time. You can probably relate to this — you often need a vacation after your vacation. Usually, it’s just another location to make dinner, plan family activities and clean up, right? But, I’m kind of digging the cruise vibe. No cooking. No cleaning. No heavy planning. It’s been quite restful and I’m actually going to start and finish a book 🙂 We’ll be home on Sunday morning, but here are the troops at one of our stops.

In other news, I’m talking about Why I Finally Went To Therapy on the podcast this week.

I was in a really dark place most of last year—after losing my mom—plus all the other things life throws you in midlife: crazy hormones, bigger kids with bigger problems, etc.

Life has a way of catching up with us, right?

Like so many of you, I was still showing up for life—but underneath it all, something wasn’t right. John (my husband) was the one who finally said it: it might be time to talk to someone.

So I did.

In this conversation, John and I talk about why I went to therapy, the stigma that still surrounds it, and what happens when we avoid processing what life hands us.

Because if you don’t process grief, you carry it. Most of us are dragging around a U-Haul of unprocessed pain without even realizing it—and it eventually shows up somewhere: in our moods, our reactions, our relationships, and even our performance. It was showing up everywhere in my life! LISTEN HERE

In honor of Women’s History Month, this episode highlights a topic that matters deeply for women: making space to process loss, grief, and the pressures we carry every day.

We also talk about how to find the right therapist, why therapy isn’t just for when life falls apart, and how it helped me walk through the anniversary of my parents’ deaths.

Your body is designed to process what life brings you. But it can’t do that work if we never slow down long enough to face it.

I encourage you to LISTEN HERE, whether you’re part of the 48% of my newsletter subscribers who have been to therapy, the 16% of you that are currently IN therapy, or the 31% who’ve never been.

We’re all in this together, friends.

Bon voyage from the high seas! We’ll talk soon.

FARIS FAVORITES 🤎

1. The EASIEST Dinner To Make!

Not sure about you, but dinner continues to be the bane of our family’s existence. “What’s for Dinner?” - that’s a phrase I dread. Here’s a one pot meal that should help. Also, if you’re doing some spring cleaning… start with the snack drawer and use my link for 30% off your first order and a free gift at Thrive Market. Healthy snacks, pantry staples, and better-for-you household finds at a great price.

2. Let’s Celebrate With A GIVEAWAY!

My book, “You Don’t Have To Carry It All: Ditch the Mom Guilt and Find a Better Way Forward”, turned THREE YEARS OLD last week! What an honor it’s been the last few years to champion motherhood, working moms, and families through my work as the founder of CARRY Media. To celebrate my book’s b-day, I’d love to send FIVE of you a copy of my book! DM me your mailing address on IG and if you win, I’ll pop them in the mail.

3. My New Favorite DUPE 👖

I love a good jean short, but do I want to spend a small fortune? I know everyone is raving about the Anthropologie jean shorts, but I found a nearly identical pair at Target that’s been making the rounds for under $30, with the same vibe. If you want premium denim and a forever pair, go Anthro (when they’re back in stock). But, the Target version is a solid dupe.

GLP-1s: Why I tried Them, What Really Happened

GLP-1s—Ozempic, Wegovy, Zepbound—are everywhere right now. And so is the debate. Some people call it a breakthrough. Others say it’s cheating.

So let’s talk about it.

In this episode, I’m sharing my personal experience taking a GLP-1 as a 50-year-old woman navigating perimenopause, inflammation, and a body that suddenly stopped responding to all the things that used to work.

My CARRY Media colleague Kristen White joins me to ask the questions so many women are asking privately: What are the side effects? Does it actually work? And what happens when you stop?

It’s also Women’s History Month, and all March long, we’re talking about the issues that matter to women.

No hype. No shame. Just an honest conversation about women’s health—and what I’ve learned so far.
