Guardian Angels, College Football and Anniversaries

To know me is to know I love college football. It’s my favorite.
And Michigan has always been my team. My children aren’t allowed in the same room as me when I’m watching the Wolverines play because I get, ahem, quite spirited. (I'll admit: I'm obnoxious.)
So, it should come as no shock that several weeks ago I painted my toes Maize & Blue, repping Michigan Football, including a large block “M” on my big toes.
My husband can’t even look at my feet right now because he’s a Notre Dame fan. But, the one team we CAN agree on is Clemson. Since moving to the Clemson, South Carolina area back in 2020, we’ve pseudo-adopted the Clemson Tigers as our family’s team. We scored some last-minute tickets this past weekend and had a blast!

While our kids loved the football game, they couldn’t care less about our anniversary. John and I will celebrate 22 years of wedded ups and downs this Friday. :) We have FOUGHT HARD for this marriage to work. Man, it’s freaking hard. To be honest, we’ve wanted to throw in the towel so many times.Something that has saved us on multiple occasions is The 5 Love Languages by Dr. Gary Chapman. This book has been the most transformative in all my relationships…you’ll see everyone, including your friends, family and partner, completely different after reading it. There’s a reason why tens of millions of people have devoured this book and why it remains a best-seller.

My love languages are physical touch and acts of service. John’s are words of affirmation and physical touch. I actually had the honor of conversing with Dr. Chapman on my podcast not that long ago — and he answers all your love languages questions, including the three ways parents can identify their children's love languages. I’d love to hear yours — weigh in on my IG page!
