Tacos, Fall and Soundtracks…

It’s National Taco Day, which just happens to be on a Taco Tuesday. Weirdly, this national holiday doesn’t always fall on a Tuesday. The internet got angry a few years ago when it fell on a Wednesday.

But, the tacos have aligned…and, ‘tis a good day for free tacos, my friends.

To cut to the chase: you’re getting tacos today. For free. From somewhere.

I did some hardcore sleuthing on Google and uncovered this link which tells you what deals you can score and where. For instance, Taco Bell is doing a taco subscription service (you heard me right), available only for purchase today. Del Taco has launched “Tacoberfest” and even 7-11 is getting in on the game.

Just when I thought my favorite season (FALL) couldn’t get any better — National Taco Day blesses us.

Speaking of seasons…this leads me to our psychology lesson for the day. If you’ve fallen for FALL, you’re not only among the majority of Americans, but you also apparently have a constant desire for change.

I read an interesting article about what our favorite seasons say about us. If spring is your jam, you might crave new experiences. Summer lover? You’re outgoing and upbeat. If winter is more your speed, you might be an introverted homebody.

Regardless of your favorite, it’s a good day to be you!

Keep shining your light, my friends!

2. This blows my mind

We can have upwards of 80 thousand thoughts daily. And, up to 80% of those are negative. That’s why our thoughts matter! As my friend, speaker and author Jon Acuff writes in his new best-selling book, Your New Playlist, “A single repetitive thought believed when you’re a teen can change the course of your life. But the good news is you get a choice when it comes to those internal soundtracks.” Jon’s newest book is aimed at teens and I highly recommend you buy this book for every teen in your life. Also, he’s giving away five copies to my newsletter crew. So, DM me via IG if you want in. Photo via Amazon.com

3. In the spirit of Taco Tuesday, I present to you my mother’s easy taco seasoning. And one of the few things I make. It’s equal parts of six spices: Salt, Paprika, Chili Powder, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder and Cumin. I make a large batch, then store it in the freezer. (In a Ziploc, what else?)

Here's what you missed this week in The CARRY™ ALL, the weekly newsletter BY working moms, for working moms (and the Media company birthed out of my own Called Out story!)

1. How working moms can negotiate a raise.2. An interview with a working mom who made the news this week for going above and beyond her call of duty as an Instacart shopper.3. A letter to the mom who just got a promotion.

One might assume this celebrated artist must have muscled his way to the top, but Tauren’s story is one of true success found on the other side of total surrender.

Episode 76 with Ainsley Earhardt — It's fall, y'all! If you're looking to turn a new leaf or leave some old ways behind in this new season, this episode is for you. Mama to a 7-year-old, NYT bestselling author and FOX & Friends co-host Ainsley Earhardt joins me to talk about all things faith, calling and lifting up others along the way. Hear how prioritizing a higher calling helped her stop burning the candle at both ends and fight back against the paralyzing worry of always wondering what everyone else was thinking about her.
