Are you silent walking?

Let’s Talk About a new phenomenon called “Silent Walking”. Ever heard of it? I hadn’t until my teenage daughter recently told me about it. Keep reading to hear what it is and why it’s important.

So, I’m just returning from a wonderful girls trip to NYC, which just happened to overlap with my 48th birthday (thank you for all your bday wishes!). But, all I can think about right now is a shift I’ve been sensing. You know how you get an overwhelming feeling that you’re supposed to be doing something…and you have a stirring in your spirit about it? Well, I’m getting the sense that I’m supposed to rest and to root into what’s been planted. I’ve been in a season of launching and hustling. Is it time to rest and grow roots? This is something a lot of us are really bad at. Personally, I go go go until I burn out. You might know that I even have “Be Still” tattooed on my wrist as a reminder. Anyway, I’ve been feeling this shift, that resting and rooting are coming, for some time. Then, I saw THIS VIDEO and it affirmed everything. It’s essentially talking about the importance of having seasons of rest/wintering. And, it documents what happens to those beautiful redwood trees that have been around for hundreds of years when they’re injected with a chemical similar to adrenaline that doesn’t allow them time to rest or to winter. Within a year, they die. Rest is essential to living. Rest is essential to creating. Rest is essential to our overall health. It’s hard to rest because we’re constantly bombarded with messages and stimulated with content. It’s why anxiety levels are so high–we were never meant to carry this much information or stimuli, our bodies physically can’t process it. Those devices we have to “convenience” our lives have all but inconvenienced us, because we’re expected to always be on, always be available. Which is why so many young people have started SILENT WALKING. (I told you we’d get back to this…haha). SIlent walking=walking without any devices, soaking up what’s around you. AKA, how we used to walk, growing up in the 80’s. But, there really is something to it. What season are you in, friend? I want to encourage you, whether it’s a season of planting, harvesting, sowing, or a season of resting/rooting. They’re all necessary. There is a time for every season. Be where you need to be. If just for this season. Always cheering you on!

Want to share some encouragement? Forward this to a friend!

TOO GOOD NOT TO SHARE

I feel like after that, we could all use a good laugh, so check out Trey Kennedy’s content. He’s my guest on the show this week and takes us inside his life as a new dad, how he got his break in comedy and how we can all find our “thing”.

FARIS FAVORITES

1.  Wear what's true!

I'm in my "Not Bossy, Just Aggressively Helpful" phase of life.  A friend got me this for me as a b-day present.  And, I've been flooded with requests as to where it's from.  You're Welcome.  Buy it.  Now! (This is just me being aggressively helpful!)

2.   40% OFF at ABLE

I’m a huge fan of a nice jacket, jeans and some kicks. I felt so confident giving a talk last week about the childcare crisis in Oklahoma City. And, guess what? You can get this stunning suede jacket and just shout everything else for 40% off from ABLE, using the code: CARRYHOLIDAY40.

3.  I'm Glad For What I Have

Soooo, after sharing all the things you should buy, I’m gonna tell you about my friend’s adorable new kids book, “I’m Grateful For What I Have”, which is about contentment. (The irony, right? ) This is Rachel Cruze’s first kids book and it is the sweetest. She wrote it to show kids that having stuff is ok, but it won’t bring long lasting joy. Grab it for your kids or grandkids today! And, if you’re one of the first FIVE to DM me your mailing address, Rachel’s team will send you a free copy!
