PFO Newsletter - 11.21.24

Tis the season for visiting family and friends, wearing stretchy pants and cozying up with a cup of your favorite warm beverage.

In our house, ‘tis the season for college visits, too. Yikes! We’ve now gone on two college visits with our daughter, Caroline, to the University of Georgia and Clemson University.

I’ve tried convincing her to go to the University of Michigan, but she wants nothing to do with cold weather schools. Ha.

Honestly, I can’t believe we’re doing this. Seems like yesterday she was going to kindergarten. It’s a whole new world for our family. (I need all your advice! Please share it all with me in the comment section at the very bottom of this newsletter.)

Here’s a photo of us during a rainy college tour at Clemson this week.

Also, for all of us who get nostalgic and love family togetherness this time of year (this is 1000% me), I was going to make sure–come hell or high water– that we made time to decorate the Christmas trees as a family. All of us. Together. One big happy family.

That’s what we’re doing tonight, replete with our ornament tossing game, consisting of the kids gently throwing the non-breakable ornaments on the tree to see if any of them will stick. We’ve been doing it for years. It’s hilarious. Nothing really breaks. (Almost nothing) And it keeps the kids (and the husband) entertained.

As we begin winding down the season, I’m winding down the podcast with our annual “ASK US ANYTHING” edition with John and Me.

So this is your chance for first dibs, before we ask anyone else, what do YOU want us to talk about? What questions do you have for us? We love engaging with you!

In closing, I just want to say I’m really grateful for you and how we encourage one another on our journeys!

How To Effectively Negotiate With Your Kids and Partner Featuring Former FBI Hostage Negotiator, Chris Voss

Parents would make incredible hostage negotiators. After all, we’re negotiating all day, every day, with our kids, partners, and co-workers.  Because we’re in countless negotiations (and maybe we don’t even know it), I’ve invited former FBI hostage negotiator Chris Voss to the show to help us effectively negotiate with our kids, partner, and co-workers.  This guy is legit. He’s even done a masterclass on it. Maybe you want your kids to go to bed on time or listen to better music. Or do you want your partner to step it up at home, or do you desire a better schedule at work? Chris is here for all of it. Plus, he shares why he wants our kids to say NO.
