It’s been a bit since I last checked in with you…
As many of you know, my sweet mom passed away on February 16th and finding the right words has been a struggle.
Thank you for giving me space to grieve and for the countless messages, meals and flowers you’ve sent. She was a special woman and as I have shared with you, she struggled in the last few years due to strokes and debilitating seizures.
I’m comforted knowing she’s no longer in pain and that she’s in Heaven, alongside my dad (mom passed almost six years to the day that dad passed).
In the future, I’ll be sharing more about her life, plus how I want to help families who are caring for aging loved ones. But for now, I’ll share this: her last coherent words were “Jesus, take me home”. She’s home. And she’s at total peace. Our family is comforted knowing we’ll get to see her again.
This is the last photo I took of her…what a cutie. Oh, how I miss her warmth.
In the meantime, we’re on spring break this week and our family of five is gearing up to go away for a few days to the mountains of NC, where we’ll have NO INTERNET. My youngest said “bruh, you’re joking”. LOL. I’m looking forward to unplugging and having some distraction-free family time, even if it’s just a few days.
How do you feel about an INTERNET free vacation?
How do you feel about an INTERNET FREE vacation? |
Before I go, have you caught up on the podcast episodes I’ve been releasing over the last few weeks?
➡️ Therapists Sissy Goff and David Thomas joined me to talk about navigating our teens dating
➡️ John joined me to talk about how to keep it spicy with your partner
➡️ We got an update on the fight for paid family leave from the co-founder of Chamber of Mothers
➡️ And because we needed a laugh, I invited my friend and influencer, Peaches (from @PeachesAndDiesel104) on the show to talk about menopause and midlife
I love hearing from you, whether you weigh in on my Instagram page, or you send me a DM. Let me know which episode you’ve connected most with. And a reminder to tell me what you want me to talk about on the show.
I’ll be checking in with you soon. Say prayers my kids survive their time away from the Internet. (Life is so tough, right? LOL)
Hugs,
Paula xo
FARIS FAVORITES 🤎

1. Women’s History Month Giveaway - DM ME!
In honor of Women’s History Month, I’m giving away signed copies of my book, You Don’t Have to CARRY It All. This book is a hug and a sword for working mamas and a rallying cry to give moms and families the support they need and deserve! The first FIVE people to DM me on Instagram with your mailing address get a signed copy!

2. CHICKPEA BLONDIE BARS - Just Hear Me Out On This One!
If I told you to try these viral CHICKPEA BLONDIE BARS you’d probably say, “Paula, you lost me at ChickPeas”. Ha. I get it. But, I tried them and was BLOWN AWAY by their texture and taste. I honestly could have eaten the whole tray, which is a bit counter-productive. But, I’m telling you, DON’T KNOCK THEM until you try them!

3. YUKA: The App That Tells You What’s REALLY In Your Food!
I am completely OBSESSED with an app that tells you what’s in your food and cosmetics. It’s called YUKA and here’s how it works: you’ll scan your products’ barcode and get either a bad, poor, good or excellent rating. I’ve been scanning just about everything in my house and at the grocery store. It’s EYE OPENING what’s in our products and often, what’s disguised as “healthy” or “organic” isn’t really. I use the free version of the app. Let me know what you think about it! I’m a little crazy about it–just ask my kids!
THE PAULA FARIS SHOW 🎙️
![]() The Fight For Paid Leave With Erin Erenberg, the Chamber of Mothers Co-FounderThere’s a lot we don’t agree on in this country. But one issue that gets overwhelming support among voters is the need to support moms and families in this country, from paid family leave, to affordable childcare and improved maternal health. Those issues shouldn't be a luxury. They should be a necessity, if we want to support families and grow our economy. I’m talking to Erin Erenberg, the co-founder of Chamber of Mothers, a non-partisan organization that is doing the work on those very issues in Washington, D.C. Erin shares why she’s optimistic about these issues, plus how we can get involved in changing the game for moms and families. Also, hear why we shouldn’t have to choose between kids and career in this country. | ![]() Midlife, Menopause, Empty Nesting, and Gen X With Instagram’s @PeachesAndDiesel104We’re in need of some levity and laughs, so I’ve invited the very funny Peaches (from @PeachesAndDiesel104) to the show. You might be one of her 500k followers that are drawn to her ridiculous and relatable content, like I was. Only to learn that Peaches is an empty-nesting mom of two, navigating midlife and menopause. While we have the most amount of fun in this conversation, you might just find that Peaches has inspired you to try something new, fun and crazy. She’s already got my wheels churning! |
